It takes a special kind of dedication (and a lot of heart) to carve out time for personal health while also stepping up as a community leader. Yet, right in our own neighbourhoods, there are everyday role models doing just that. They lead by example, proving that it’s possible to weave fitness, family time, and community service into one deeply rewarding lifestyle.

One such role model is Grenville, a dedicated member of our Windy Hill community. We caught up with Grenville to learn how he balances his health, his family, and his positive impact on the gym floor.

For Grenville, leading by example doesn't mean having a perfect workout every single day; it comes down to consistency and effort.

"Making sure I show up consistently to the gym helps lead by example. I don’t need to always come to the gym and destroy my body to become a bodybuilder, it’s all about showing up and doing what is sufficient. At least showing up is better than not showing up at all... even if sometimes I talk more than I work out!"

Fostering a Fun Environment

Health and fitness can easily feel like a chore, but Grenville keeps the energy high by focusing on the people around him and blending his gym time with family time.

Community Connection: He focuses on helping others feel motivated by creating a "safe, fun, and happy environment" for everyone who walks through the doors.

Family Bonding: Because his family is also into fitness, hitting the gym doubles as quality time together. It provides him with an extra boost of motivation while ensuring he stays connected with his loved ones.

Advice for Fellow Dads

When asked what advice he has for other dads trying to juggle work, family, and wellness, Grenville emphasises the critical importance of self-care and integration:

Prioritise Mental Health: "Your own health is very important and needs to be prioritised—especially male mental health."

Make it a Team Effort: He highly recommends getting the whole family involved in your fitness goals. Whether it's training together at the gym or playing organised sports, it helps you find the time to exercise while keeping motivation high.
